Michael Garnreiter is a Managing Director with Fenix Financial Forensics (F3) and is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Garnreiter specializes in providing forensic accounting and business advisory services including analysis of public and private financial information; evaluating internal controls and business processes; investigating corporate governance issues; analyzing technical accounting issues for public and private companies including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS); transaction services; liquidity analyses and cash flow management; turnaround services; and interim management.

Mr. Garnreiter has over thirty-five years of experience in many industries including healthcare, food service and entertainment, financial services, mining, manufacturing, and services companies. He has technical expertise in financial reporting, internal controls and risk assessment, accounting principle application, SEC issues and compliance, internal auditing, and Sarbanes-Oxley and enterprise risk evaluation and process implementation.

Mr. Garnreiter is currently an independent member of the board of directors for four public companies and holds numerous committee positions on these boards including audit committee chairman. He has been designated a financial expert according to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and was the Sole Director for a company in bankruptcy. In addition, he has chaired two special internal investigations conducted by outside legal counsel - one covering a SEC investigation into financial misstatements, and another in response to anonymous whistleblower allegations.

Prior to becoming affiliated with F3, Mr. Garnreiter had a 27-year accounting and auditing career with Andersen LLP, where he held leadership positions in the Tucson and Phoenix offices and was involved in over 400 audit-related engagements for private, public and not-for-profit organizations. Subsequent to his retirement from Andersen, he became Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of a $225 million publicly-traded restaurant operating company with locations in 11 states. His responsibilities there included the full accounting function and technology infrastructure, insurance and risk management program, banking relationships and bank debt management, and SEC financial reporting.
